Nintendo has detailed their plans for this year’s E3 convention. This year, E3 will take place from June 13 to June 15. On the 13th, Nintendo will be holding a live event at 9 am Pacific Time where they will discuss the latest news on upcoming games. This portion of their presentation will run for 30 minutes. Though Nintendo hasn’t hinted at any games outside of Super Mario Odyssey and several Nintendo 3DS titles, it is important to note that this is Nintendo’s first E3 featuring their latest console, the Nintendo Switch.
Nintendo Treehouse Live:
At 9:30 directly after their live presentation, the Nintendo Treehouse team will provide an in-depth look at the new games they have announced. This portion of the presentation is sure to focus a large amount of time on the upcoming Mario game. Viewers can expect to learn many new details about the 3D platformer coming this holiday season. Any new 3DS and Switch titles that have been announced will be sure to get plenty of coverage throughout the day.
Splatoon 2 Tournament:
Nintendo will also be hosting 3 separate tournaments for their upcoming competitive games. The first tournament will be on Splatoon 2, which releases on July 21st, 2017. Four teams from around the world have been invited to compete against each other on the latest iteration of their Splatoon IP. The teams include Deadbeat (U.S), Dynameu (Japan), Rising Moon (Europe), and Blue Ringed Octolings (Australia/New Zealand) This tournament takes place on June 13th, possibly following the Nintendo Treehouse coverage.
Pokkén Tournament DX Invitational
On June 14th at 10:30 am PT, the Pokken Tournament will be underway. This tournament will feature eight YouTube and Twitch celebrities battling it out on the latest Pokémon-based fighter. This game was announced in the most recent Pokémon Nintendo Direct and the game will release for the Nintendo Switch in September.
After the Pokkén Tournament DX Invitational, eight players will faceoff on the latest Nintendo Switch release. ARMS is scheduled to release on June 16th. This tournament will put 4 top fighting gamers against 4 E3 attendees that qualify for the final event. This tournament is the final event being streamed during Nintendo’s E3 week.
