Super Mario Maker is Coming to Nintendo 3DS
That’s right. Nintendo has made Super Mario Maker a 3DS title. Like I said earlier, this is an indicator to me that the Wii U is getting left behind and the 3DS is taking its place. The new game focuses on playing games anytime, anywhere.
There are some differences between the 3DS and Wii U versions. You can go online on the 3DS version to play courses, but there will be no search feature this time around. You also cannot upload your courses online. You can only share your courses via local play or through streetpass. This does make the game exciting with random courses for you to encounter. But it can be hard to see those new courses if you aren’t in a convention center or highly populated city. Though, I did have good luck with streetpass while in University.
The game does come with every course customization feature on the Wii U except the Mystery Mushrooms and the associated costumes for Mario. I believe this may be Nintendo’s way of saying that there will be no amiibo compatibility on the 3DS version of the game. That’s too bad, it is a lot of fun creating themed levels for each character. Regardless, if you are interested, the game will be available December 2nd, 2016
